Engels and Che Guevara: the karma of a soul

Reader, take a moment to look closely at both photographs. Study the similarities between these figures. Compare the features of their faces, but also the arcs of their lives.

A certain inner resemblance becomes surprisingly clear — in their ideals, their temperament, even in their appearance — despite the fact that they were born to different parents, in different cultures, and in different races. Che Guevara’s looks carry traces of African ancestry. Engels, the capitalist, shows a softer, more delicate beauty. His father owned a factory, which allowed him to enjoy material affluence. Throughout his life Engels was guided by Marx’s visions of redeeming the working class. Later, he even funded Marx, who lived in England and quietly longed for a bourgeois lifestyle himself.

Che Guevara, a man of action, could be seen as another incarnation of the same Soul — returning to confront the bourgeoisie and land-owning elite, this time in Central and South America. Engels and Marx merely shaped revolutionary ideas; Che put them into practice, which meant killing those who thought differently.

What supports this interpretation is not only the striking facial resemblance, but also the charisma — something a Soul could have accumulated through the personality of Engels. Che held extraordinary sway over those who shared his worldview. His image, like those of Engels and Marx, is known worldwide. Yet today, outside Russia, no one parades around in shirts featuring Engels and Marx, while Che Guevara’s face appears everywhere. In South America his portraits hang in homes beside various Madonnas and images of Jesus. In this way, for many Christians, this communist revolutionary has become yet another intermediary on the path to God.
