Learning Foreign Languages. A Prayer
When my daughter was 8 years old, she began attending additional extracurricular English classes. In September of the following year she announced that she understood nothing of this language and would not continue learning it. I wrote an affirmative decree that could help in this situation. After a few years, I myself am surprised that it never even occurred to me to cram vocabulary or grammar rules with her. The child approached reading the decree with trust and with such great energy that on the third day of working with the text, an Englishman appeared in our home. She spent the entire meeting hidden at the top of the stairs, afraid that we would expect her to translate the conversation freely.
In the fourth grade of primary school, compulsory German lessons were added. Today, finishing the fifth grade, she has top marks in foreign languages, despite the fact that at home we do not pay special attention to the topics covered in class or whether she has already done her homework. Her language skills were probably not deeply hidden, yet the way she understands the languages taught at school is currently foreign to me. I would also like to add that she reads Czech newspapers with comprehension.
I forgive myself now for feeling guilty and blaming myself for not understanding vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
God, free me with Your love from feeling guilty and from blaming myself for not understanding vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
I realize that I ……… have the right not to understand vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
I realize that I do not have to feel guilty for not understanding vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
I … have the right not to understand what other people say to me.
I … have the right not to understand what other people say to me in foreign, unfamiliar languages.
I … accept that I do not have to understand what other people say to me in foreign, unfamiliar languages.
I now forgive my parents and everyone who blamed me for not understanding vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
I forgive myself now for all my fears and reluctance toward learning, understanding, and using English and other languages.
God, free me with Your love from all my fears and reluctance toward learning, understanding, and using English and other languages.
I forgive myself now for all my fears and reluctance toward learning new words, grammatical rules, writing rules, and pronunciation proper to English and other languages.
God, free me with Your love from all my fears and reluctance toward learning new words, grammatical rules, writing rules, and pronunciation proper to English and other languages.
I forgive myself now for being afraid of suffering and pain experienced through learning and understanding English and other languages.
God, free me with Your love from fearing suffering and pain experienced through learning and understanding English and other languages.
I no longer have to fear that I will experience suffering and pain through learning and understanding English and other languages.
I no longer have to expect new suffering and pain connected with learning and understanding English and other languages.
I forgive myself now for being afraid of a lack of acceptance and respect from my parents and other people when I become wise, when I use English and other languages well, easily, and freely.
God, free me with Your love from fearing a lack of acceptance and respect from my parents and other people when I become wise and when I use English and other languages well, easily, and freely.
I … perceive the sense, purpose, and need for easy, light, and fast, conscious acquisition of vocabulary and grammatical rules of English and other languages.
