A Prayer Different From All Others

Sisyphus – Intentions

Fragments of an extensive compilation. If your life is as hard as Sisyphus’s was, then such burdens clearly indicate the taking of Amitabha’s vows and point to Lokesia as the one who will gladly kick the legs out from under anyone whose life is hard and uphill.

  1. Our very willing reenacting in our lives of many threads of the myth of Sisyphus.
  2. Our rolling uphill, steadily, the boulder of our life, like the Greek Sisyphus, so that everything we touched turned to nothing.
  3. Our maintaining the belief and conviction that if everything is going well, then surely soon something will fail and our world will collapse.
  4. Our maintaining the belief and conviction that no matter which path we choose, it is always uphill for us.
  5. Our maintaining the belief and conviction that everything good in life is illegal, immoral, harmful.
  6. Our rejecting the joy of life and undertaking countless attempts to limit joy, happiness, and fulfillment in various ways.
